Doorstep calling restricted zones
Doorstep Calling Restricted Zones
(
DCRZ)
are areas set up to deter bogus callers targeting vulnerable
residents. Each
DCRZ location is
highlighted with signs fitted to lamp posts. The signs show the
emergency contact number.
What are Doorstep Calling Restricted Zones (
DCRZ)?
Each household in the
DCRZ will receive
a comprehensive pack containing a free sign sticker and other
relevant information connected to the scheme.
Each household in the DCRZ will
receive an information pack which includes information on what to
do if they are visited by cold callers, and a “restricted cold
calling zone” window sticker to display in their property see We’re
not buying it (pdf 408kb).
A street sign also marks the zone on each
road, informing people that it is a restricted cold calling zone.
If you are a resident and are aware of bogus callers in
your area, please call Consumer Direct for advice
and guidance.
Doorstep Calling Restricted
Zones help residents to stop rogue traders in a unique
way. They give residents control over who is operating
in their neighbourhoods and encourage the community to
engage with their neighbours and the Safer
Neighbourhood Teams.
