Home Consumer advice

Consumer advice is about understanding such things as your rights when purchasing goods and services.

The London Borough of Redbridge works in partnership with Consumer Direct to provide advice that will help you:

  • sort out problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods or services you have purchased
  • know your rights as consumers
  • find out how to avoid scams and report them
  • go about finding a reputable trader

Changes to online consumer advice

From 1 April 2011 the Consumer Direct website will close and you will automatically be re-direct to consumer advice pages on the Directgov website where;you will continue to obtain practical advice including information about borrowing money, credit and store cards, hire purchase, loans and more.

This change does not effect the service provided by Consumer Direct as you can continue  to contact a Consumer Direct advisor by calling 08454 04 05 06 or by submitting your question in writing via the Directgov website.

The Office of Fair Trading will manage consumer content on Directgov and continue to manage Consumer Direct until responsibility for consumer advice services transfers to Citizens Advice from 1 April 2012.
