What is the structure of Redbridge Local Safeguarding Children Board?

Redbridge Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is made up of a Strategic Board and seven sub-groups that are accountable to the Board. The Independent Chair of Redbridge LSCB  reports to the Director of Children's Services. 

The Board and each sub-group is governed by a set of rules called 'Terms of Reference'. The work carried out by the Board and each sub-group is monitored by work programmes.

Who are the members of Redbridge LSCB?

The core membership of LSCBs is set out in the Children Act 2004, and includes local authorities, health bodies, police, voluntary, community and faith groups and many others.

Members of Redbridge LSCB are senior individuals within their organisation. They have a strategic role relating to safeguarding and promoting children. They should be able to commit their organisation on policy and practice matters and hold their organisation to account. 

Members of the sub-groups are representatives of the different partner agencies within Redbridge.They are responsible for carrying out the work of the LSCB .

How is the work of the sub-groups monitored?

The LSCB Practice Development Manager acts as a link between the Strategic Board and the sub-groups and makes sure that each group undertakes the work required.

How often do the Strategic Board and the sub-groups meet?

Answer

The LSCB  Strategic Board meets four times per year. Each sub-group meets on average four times per year, with the exception of the Child Death Overview Panel which meets monthly and the Business, Planning, Policy & Finance sub-group which meets twice a year.
