Mobility Card Scheme
What is the Mobility Card Scheme?
The Redbridge Mobility Card Scheme provides a door
to door transport service for residents in
Redbridge who have a disability. The service is primarily
within a 10-mile radius of the Gants Hill roundabout.
You can use the service for any journey, for
example shopping and visiting the doctor or
dentist.
Vehicles are available everyday of the year
between 7am and 12am (midnight).
Who can get this service?
The scheme is open to Redbridge residents over two years of
age who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- severe difficulty in walking and unable to use public
transport without assistance
- registered blind
- permanent wheelchair user
- unable to walk unassisted
- in receipt of the higher rate of the Disability Living
Allowance - mobility component
- in receipt of War Pensioner's mobility allowance and unable to
use public transport but able to use a taxi.
How do I apply?

complete the application form (PDF 29 KB) or call our Customer Contact Centre.
What information do I need to supply?
Please provide all necessary documentation
relevant to your application:
- two recent passport size photographs with name written on
the back of each photo
- evidence of higher rate of mobility component of Disability
Living Allowance or War Pensioners Mobility Supplement (if
applicable).
How much does the service cost?
The controller will advise you of the cost of your
journey at the time of booking. Payment must be made to
the driver on completion of the journey.
The minimum charge is £2.50.
What happens next?
Once your application form has been submitted, you will be
informed in writing if you qualify or do not qualify for the
scheme. You will receive your card in the post if you do
qualify.
